Harrisburg, Pa. – After a stormy start to the week that delivered as much as 2.5 inches of rainfall across the Middle Atlantic, much of Pennsylvania and surrounding states will see a break in the wet pattern through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, the region will turn mostly dry over the next three days, with only scattered showers expected in northern Pennsylvania and across the Southern Tier of New York. Rainfall totals in these areas should remain light, generally less than a quarter inch.
The heavier rainfall that moved through on Monday left behind localized ponding on roads and swollen creeks, particularly in central and northern Pennsylvania. Drivers in places like Williamsport, Scranton, and Binghamton should remain alert for slick spots if light showers develop.
For residents, this midweek lull provides an opportunity to clear storm drains, check gutters, and prepare for the next round of unsettled weather later this week. Outdoor plans should fare well in most areas, though brief showers may interrupt activities in northern counties.
More updates are expected if showers intensify, but current projections suggest only isolated impacts.
