Memphis, TN – A dramatic weather swing is on the way for the Mid-South, as early-week chills in the 40s will quickly give way to springlike warmth by midweek.

According to the US National Weather Service in Memphis, most of the region—including parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas—will struggle to warm past the 40s on Monday afternoon. However, the cold snap is expected to be short-lived. Temperatures are forecast to rebound sharply by Wednesday, reaching near-normal highs and potentially climbing into the 70s late in the week.

Meteorologists say this “temperature whiplash” will bring a noticeable shift as mild, above-normal air settles across much of the central and southeastern United States. Forecast models for November 13–19 show a strong likelihood of warmer-than-average temperatures dominating the region.

Normal highs for mid-November are typically around 63°F in Memphis, 61°F in Jackson, 60°F in Jonesboro, and 64°F in Tupelo, but forecasters say readings could surpass those levels before next weekend.

While the warmup will be welcome for many after the early-week chill, residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions and potential impacts on heating, travel, and outdoor plans.
