Memphis, Tenn. – Dangerous heat and scattered storms are expected across Memphis on Wednesday, bringing another round of steamy late-summer weather that could push the heat index into the triple digits. Afternoon highs will climb near 94 degrees, while storms may roll through between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Wednesday’s storm chance sits near 40 percent, with gusty winds and brief downpours possible. The heat index could peak at 106 before storms move out, creating hazardous outdoor conditions for anyone without shade or hydration.

Drivers along I-40 and I-55 may encounter sudden heavy rain, while neighborhoods from Midtown to Bartlett could see pop-up lightning storms. The weather service advises limiting outdoor work during peak heating and keeping extra water on hand. Overnight lows will fall into the low 70s, offering little relief from the humidity.

Clear skies return Thursday with highs around 90 and calmer conditions. The region will stay sunny and hot into the weekend, with highs in the low to mid-90s and light winds from the northeast.

More updates may follow if storm coverage expands Wednesday afternoon.
