Memphis, Tenn. – Cooler air will keep the Mid-South comfortable through Monday, but the reprieve from summer heat won’t last long. Highs are expected to climb back into the 90s by midweek, pushing Memphis and surrounding cities toward hotter afternoons.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, weekend temperatures will stay in the mid-70s to low 80s across much of West Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas. By Tuesday, a gradual warm-up begins, with highs nearing 90 in Memphis, Jonesboro, and Tupelo.
While humidity levels will stay relatively low, limiting heat indices from topping triple digits, the return of hotter weather could stress outdoor workers, athletes, and vulnerable groups. The NWS recommends staying hydrated and limiting strenuous activity during the afternoon hours later in the week.
Drivers may also notice hotter pavement conditions by midweek, which can impact vehicle performance and tire pressure. Residents are advised to prepare now for a return to above-average warmth that could extend into next weekend.
Temperatures are expected to remain near 90 in most of the Mid-South through late week, with little relief until another front develops.
