Memphis, Tennessee – A rare stretch of cooler temperatures is bringing relief across Memphis and much of West Tennessee this weekend, with high temperatures lingering in the mid-80s to low 90s through Wednesday night.

According to the US National Weather Service Memphis, daily highs will stay below 90°F for many cities—including Corinth and Jackson—through Tuesday, with Memphis itself reaching just 88°F Sunday and Monday. The brief cooldown will shift by midweek, as temperatures begin to climb. By Friday, highs will surge back to 95°F or higher across Clarksdale, Jonesboro, and Tupelo.

This break in heat comes as a welcome reprieve after a string of dangerous, triple-digit days. Residents are urged to use this window to catch up on outdoor chores and check air conditioning units before the heat intensifies again. Health officials recommend staying hydrated, keeping pets cool, and limiting outdoor activity once temperatures rise.

Several Mid-South counties, including Shelby, DeSoto, and Lee, should prepare for the return of excessive heat by the weekend. Drivers can expect increased pavement temperatures and possible delays on I-40 and I-55 as the mercury climbs.

Temperatures are expected to stay elevated into early next week. Another advisory may be issued if heat indices approach hazardous levels.
