Memphis, TN – A rapid warm-up will push temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal across Tennessee by this weekend, raising the risk of heat-related stress during outdoor activities as spring briefly turns summerlike.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a strong high-pressure system will build over the Mid-South starting midweek, driving highs into the 80 to 85 degree range by Saturday and Sunday. Typical highs this time of year sit between 68 and 72 degrees, making this surge notably above seasonal averages.
Memphis will see temperatures climb into the low 80s by Saturday afternoon, with similar conditions stretching along the I-40 corridor through Jackson and into Nashville. West Tennessee faces the most consistent warmth, while North Mississippi and eastern Arkansas also trend well above normal under the same ridge.
The combination of warm air and dry conditions could increase dehydration risk for those working or exercising outdoors. Residents should stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
This pattern is expected to hold into early next week as high pressure remains in place. Additional updates may follow if temperatures trend closer to record-breaking levels.
