Memphis, Tennessee – Summer heat is set to return in force across the Mid-South as temperatures in Memphis, Jackson, Oxford, and surrounding cities climb out of the 80s and into the low-90s by Friday and Saturday. Residents will notice a steady warming trend, with afternoon highs staying below 90°F through Tuesday before the heat intensifies for the back half of the week.

According to the National Weather Service Memphis, a series of warm, muggy days are ahead, with the most significant heat building after Wednesday. Highs will reach 93°F in Memphis and most of west Tennessee and north Mississippi by the weekend, and humidity will push “feels-like” temperatures even higher. A 20% to 40% chance of afternoon thunderstorms remains in play through Wednesday, mainly along the Tennessee River and into northeast Mississippi, potentially bringing brief heavy rain and gusty winds.

Anyone with outdoor plans should stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity in peak afternoon heat, and keep an eye on local alerts for possible storm warnings. Overnight lows will remain mild, offering little relief from the warmth. More updates are expected as temperatures rise and storm chances continue into midweek.
