Memphis, Tennessee – Triple-digit heat index values are set to return across West Tennessee starting this weekend, posing renewed risks for heat-related illnesses as temperatures and humidity sharply rise.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the region will transition out of a brief stretch of mild conditions with heat indices ramping up through Saturday. By Monday, cities like Memphis, Jackson, and Oxford could feel as hot as 102°F. Overnight lows will also remain elevated, offering little relief after sunset and further increasing the potential for heat stress.

Heat safety becomes critical as the combination of moisture and daytime highs will push the “feels like” temperature into dangerous territory. Residents in areas such as Batesville, Corinth, and Jonesboro should prepare for extended exposure risk, particularly during peak afternoon hours.

Authorities recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity, staying in air-conditioned spaces, and checking on vulnerable groups—including the elderly and pets. Lightweight, breathable clothing and frequent hydration will be essential through at least midweek.

More advisories could be issued if conditions worsen. Heat indices are expected to stay in the upper 90s to low 100s through Wednesday.
