Memphis, TN – The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of East Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee, where a light mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected Monday evening through early Tuesday morning.

The advisory goes into effect from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday and covers areas including Jackson, Dyersburg, Covington, Blytheville, Jonesboro, and Kennett.

Forecasters say snow and sleet accumulations under one inch are likely, along with a light glaze of ice less than one-tenth of an inch. Even small amounts could cause slick roads, bridges, and sidewalks, especially overnight when temperatures drop below freezing.

Drivers are urged to use caution, slow down, and allow extra travel time if commuting Monday night or early Tuesday. The combination of snow and light icing could make untreated roads particularly hazardous.

Residents across the Mid-South are advised to monitor updated forecasts as temperatures fluctuate around freezing and precipitation types change.

The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday for parts of Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri.
