Little Rock, Arkansas – Thunderstorms across Arkansas and the Mid-South are expected to intensify by late afternoon Sunday, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and a risk of isolated tornadoes to parts of the southern Plains.
According to the Storm Prediction Center, storms could cluster and strengthen in Arkansas and move east into western Tennessee by early evening. The greatest threat for 75+ mph winds lies from Lubbock to Oklahoma City, while areas including Fort Worth and Little Rock face enhanced risks for severe hail over two inches and tornadoes.
In Texas and Oklahoma, cities like Amarillo, Wichita Falls, and Dallas may see rounds of intense storms with very large hail and localized wind damage. The Mid-South, including Memphis, Jonesboro, and Jackson, is more likely to experience scattered damaging gusts and isolated large hail.
Drivers should avoid unnecessary travel this evening, especially along I-40 and I-35. Residents are urged to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and review shelter plans. Power outages and downed trees are possible.
Severe weather warnings remain in effect through Sunday night. More watches may be issued as the storm system evolves. Stay tuned to local alerts and NOAA Weather Radio.
