Memphis, TN – A chilly stretch is on the way for the Mid-South as a cool air mass settles in behind recent rainfall, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.
Low temperatures are expected to stay in the low to mid-50s early in the week before steadily dropping into the upper 30s by Friday and Saturday. The coolest readings are forecast across northern Mississippi and western Tennessee, where early-morning frost could make an appearance.
According to forecasters, patchy frost may be possible as early as Thursday morning, especially in rural and low-lying areas. Residents are advised to monitor updated forecasts and protect sensitive plants and outdoor pets as temperatures approach freezing levels.
The seven-day forecast map released Saturday shows most locations—including Memphis, Jonesboro, Oxford, and Tupelo—dipping below 40°F by the weekend. These will likely be the coldest mornings of the season so far.
More updates are expected midweek as meteorologists refine the frost timing and intensity.
