Memphis, TN – A cold front moving through the Mid-South on Wednesday will bring the chilliest air of the season so far, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.

Forecasters say temperatures will steadily cool through the week, with morning lows dropping into the upper 30s and lower 40s by Friday and Saturday. The coldest mornings are expected to occur around Halloween, when patchy frost development may be possible, particularly across rural and low-lying areas.

According to the NWS forecast, Memphis is expected to see lows near 42°F by Friday, while areas like Oxford, Dyersburg, and Savannah could dip closer to 38–39°F. These readings may prompt the first Frost Advisory of the season for parts of the region.

Daytime highs will remain seasonable in the 60s after the front’s passage, but clear skies and light winds overnight will allow for significant cooling.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive vegetation and prepare outdoor plumbing or garden systems ahead of the colder mornings. Pet owners should also ensure animals have warm shelter during early morning hours later in the week.

This cold spell marks a notable shift toward more typical late-fall weather across the Mid-South following a mild October stretch.
