Memphis, TN – Scattered severe storms could roll across parts of the Mid-South Saturday night, bringing threats of damaging winds and large hail to areas from Memphis to Nashville.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather has been issued for Saturday evening into early Sunday, primarily impacting northern Arkansas, western Tennessee, and far northwest Mississippi. The greatest threats include gusts exceeding 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter.
Cities including Jonesboro, Paragould, Jackson, Union City, and Memphis are within the risk zone. Though confidence in storm development remains low, officials urge residents to monitor updates as timing and intensity may shift. Outdoor events and spring festivals may be disrupted.
Preparedness tips include having multiple ways to receive alerts—especially at night—and reviewing shelter plans. Power outages are possible in harder-hit pockets, particularly where storms intensify along the I-40 corridor.
Rainfall totals through Tuesday could exceed 1.5 inches near Memphis, potentially leading to ponding on roads.
Storm watches may be issued later this week. Residents should stay weather-aware and check back for updated guidance as the weekend approaches.
