Memphis, Tennessee – A round of isolated but potentially severe storms is expected to impact much of Tennessee and the Mid-South region from Friday evening through early Saturday morning, bringing the risk of large hail and damaging wind gusts.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Marginal (Level 1/5) risk has been issued from 5 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday, with storm cells moving northwest to southeast across the region. The primary threats include hail up to 1 inch in diameter and wind gusts over 50 mph, particularly in areas along and east of the Mississippi River.
Cities such as Memphis, Jackson, Dyersburg, and Jonesboro could see fast-moving storms develop late Friday, especially during the overnight hours. While rainfall will be more scattered, brief heavy downpours are possible in isolated pockets. Commuters and overnight travelers should remain weather-aware, as visibility and road conditions may rapidly deteriorate during storm bursts.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, charge mobile devices, and have a way to receive overnight alerts, especially if sleeping during peak storm hours.
Additional updates or upgraded advisories could be issued if storm conditions intensify late Friday.
