Memphis, TN – Drivers and residents in the Mid-South should prepare for wet conditions tonight as scattered showers move into the region along and north of Interstate 40.

According to the National Weather Service Memphis, a weak warm front will trigger scattered rain showers beginning late Sunday evening, September 14, and lasting through early Monday morning, September 15. The greatest chances for precipitation will remain north of I-40, stretching across parts of west Tennessee, north Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas.

Forecasters noted that rainfall totals will be relatively light, ranging between 0.1 and 0.25 inches. While no flooding or severe storms are expected, damp conditions could create slick spots for the Monday morning commute.

Rain chances are expected to diminish by mid-morning Monday as the system moves east. Drier conditions will return for the rest of the day, though additional fronts are possible later in the week.

Residents traveling overnight or heading to work early Monday are encouraged to allow extra time for their drive, especially along I-40 and surrounding highways.
