Memphis, Tenn. – The Mid-South is set for an unusually warm and dry stretch through October 14, with conditions leaning more toward late summer than mid-fall. Afternoon highs will climb above seasonal averages, while rainfall remains limited, providing plenty of clear days for outdoor events.

According to the National Weather Service, much of Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and northern Mississippi have an elevated chance of above-normal temperatures into mid-October, coupled with below-average precipitation. That means more sun for fall activities, but also a growing risk of brush fires in drier areas.

Cities such as Memphis, Nashville, and Little Rock should see highs in the upper 70s to low 80s with comfortable evenings. The stretch of warmth may be welcome for football games, pumpkin patches, and Halloween decorating, but fire officials advise residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor burning as soils and vegetation continue to dry out.

This mild, dry setup is expected to hold through October 14, with little indication of a major cool-down or rainmaker before mid-month.
