MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sunshine and heat will dominate Thursday across the Mid-South, with high temperatures climbing into the low to mid-90s. Most of the region will stay dry, but northern areas could see a stray afternoon shower or storm.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, storm chances remain limited to areas along and north of Interstate 40, including Jonesboro, Blytheville, and Union City, where isolated rainfall is possible. The rest of western Tennessee, north Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas should expect a warm, mostly dry day.

Memphis is set to hit 92 degrees, with similar highs in Oxford, Tupelo, and Jackson. Tupelo and Savannah may feel even hotter, reaching near 93. Despite the heat, humidity levels will stay moderate, offering some relief compared to recent weeks.

Travelers should watch for brief downpours or lightning if storms develop in northern counties, though widespread impacts are not expected. Outdoor workers and athletes are urged to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade during peak afternoon heat.

Dry, hot conditions will continue into the weekend with little rain in sight, but forecasters note rain chances may increase early next week.
