Memphis, TN – The Mid-South is in for a sharp temperature swing this week, with mild midweek conditions giving way to a much colder weekend. The National Weather Service in Memphis reports that a late-week cold front will bring a strong push of Arctic air into Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas.
According to the NWS, highs through Wednesday will remain in the 50s and lower 60s, but by Saturday, temperatures are expected to fall into the 30s with overnight lows dipping into the teens and lower 20s. Forecasters note that while rain chances remain low — around 20% near the Tennessee River on Thursday — the primary concern is the sudden and significant temperature drop.
The agency even offered a friendly reminder: “Get your Christmas shopping done this week before the cold air arrives.” Residents should prepare for freezing mornings and take precautions to protect pets, plants, and exposed pipes this weekend.
