Mount Holly, NJ – Strong winds will sweep across the Mid-Atlantic today, with a broad Wind Advisory in effect for Delaware, New Jersey, southeast Pennsylvania, and parts of eastern Maryland. Forecasters warn that gusts could reach 50 mph, bringing the potential for downed limbs, blown-around outdoor items, and isolated power outages.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, west to northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with peak gusts near 50 mph, will develop late this morning and continue through the evening. Coastal New Jersey and the Delaware Beaches may feel the strongest winds later into the night, with advisories lasting until 10 PM.

The advisory covers a wide portion of the region, including Philadelphia, Wilmington, Trenton, Atlantic City, Cape May, Toms River, Reading, Allentown, Bethlehem, Stroudsburg, Dover, Easton (MD), Centreville, and surrounding communities. For Carbon and Monroe Counties in Pennsylvania, the advisory extends until 1 AM Monday as cooler air funnels down from the Poconos.

According to the NWS, unsecured outdoor items could be tossed around and high-profile vehicles may face difficulty on bridges, highways, and open stretches. Tree limbs weakened by recent weather patterns may snap under repeated gusts, creating the potential for scattered outages.

Coastal areas—from Sandy Hook to Rehoboth Beach—could see prolonged impacts as strong offshore winds enhance the evening peak.

Drivers are urged to use caution, and residents should secure trash bins, holiday decorations, and outdoor furniture before winds increase late this morning.
