Richmond, Virginia – Mainly dry and calm conditions will continue across the Mid-Atlantic through midweek, but light rain could return by Wednesday night, bringing minor showers across Virginia and parts of Maryland.

According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, a weak system may bring scattered rainfall across southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia beginning Wednesday afternoon and lasting into Thursday. Rain totals are expected to remain low — under half an inch in most areas — and no flooding is anticipated.

In Virginia, cities like Richmond, Norfolk, and Roanoke could see passing showers during commutes late Wednesday. Maryland’s I-95 corridor, including Baltimore, may experience similar brief downpours. Rainfall projections also cover southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of central New Jersey, although no severe weather or travel disruptions are expected.

Rivers across the region are forecast to slowly fall throughout the week, easing any lingering high-water concerns. While the midweek rain may cause brief damp conditions, no alerts or advisories have been issued, and no flood risk is currently forecast.

More updates are expected if heavier rain develops, but for now, residents can expect a relatively quiet weather pattern through the first half of the week.
