Richmond, VA – Light rain is returning to central and southern Virginia today and will persist into Wednesday, bringing scattered showers and damp commutes across the region.

According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, dry conditions will prevail across much of the Mid-Atlantic, but central and eastern Virginia could see off-and-on rainfall through midweek. In New York, scattered showers are expected to develop Tuesday, especially across the Catskills and southern tier.

While no widespread flooding is forecast, slick roads and reduced visibility may impact travel during the morning and evening hours. Areas from Richmond to Norfolk could see brief periods of moderate rainfall, while cities like Binghamton and Albany in New York may experience short bursts of showers on Tuesday.

Emergency managers advise residents to check local conditions before heading out and to drive with caution on wet roads. There are no active river flood warnings, and stream gauges across the region indicate river levels will remain steady or gradually fall over the next several days.

Rain chances taper off by Thursday, but isolated pockets of moisture could linger through midweek in higher elevation areas.
