Maryland — A cool breeze ripples across the Chesapeake Bay this Halloween morning, as early clouds and higher tides linger from an active coastal system brushing the Mid-Atlantic. The National Weather Service continues a Coastal Flood Warning for tidal areas through early morning, including Baltimore Harbor and the western shore of the Bay, where water levels remain slightly above normal.

Residents along low-lying waterfronts should stay alert for minor street flooding, especially near Annapolis, Kent Island, and parts of southern Anne Arundel County. Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roads during the early commute. By midday, conditions begin to improve as strong westerly winds clear clouds and lower water levels across the region.

Skies will brighten through the afternoon, with highs climbing near 60°F and gusts up to 35 mph possible across the Baltimore–Washington corridor. The brisk wind may rattle Halloween decorations or knock down light items, so securing outdoor displays before trick-or-treating is wise.

The weekend ahead looks considerably calmer. Saturday and Sunday both bring mostly sunny skies and light winds, ideal for fall outings or early yard cleanup. Highs will reach the low 60s, while nighttime temperatures dip into the mid-40s — comfortably cool but far from freezing.

Early next week, temperatures remain seasonable, with highs near 63°F and no major rain systems in sight. Long-range models, however, hint at a pattern shift by late next week, potentially opening the door to cooler air and the season’s first light frost for inland Maryland counties.

And don’t forget — Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday. Set clocks back an hour and enjoy the extra rest under clear, calm November skies.
