Baltimore, MD – A chilly day is unfolding across Maryland and northern Virginia as cold air pushes in behind an offshore cold front, according to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington. Temperatures will only reach the upper 20s to mid-30s today, with low to mid-20s across the mountains.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect along the I-64 corridor and into the Potomac Highlands, where bands of snow are expected throughout the day. Forecasters project 1–3 inches of accumulation, with localized totals up to 4 inches in higher elevations.
Travel impacts may develop in advisory zones, especially in elevated areas where temperatures stay below freezing. Snow coverage tapers farther east, but light flakes or brief bursts remain possible into the Shenandoah Valley.
The Baltimore and Washington metro areas will stay mainly cold and dry, though highs will struggle out of the 30s. Roads west of the metro may become slick where snow persists into the afternoon.
Snow is expected to diminish by evening as the system shifts out of the region, allowing colder overnight temperatures to settle in.
