Washington, DC – A warm and unsettled end to the week will give way to a pleasant weekend across the Mid-Atlantic.
The National Weather Service says a warming trend continues today, with highs ranging from the upper 50s to low 70s across the region. However, a clipper system moving through this afternoon will bring scattered rain showers and a few thunderstorms into the evening and overnight hours.
Some storms could produce brief downpours and gusty winds before a cold front moves through early Saturday.
Conditions improve quickly this weekend, with dry weather expected both Saturday and Sunday. Highs will climb into the 60s and 70s Saturday, and even warmer into the mid-60s to near 80° by Sunday.
Another chance of rain returns Sunday evening into the overnight as the next system approaches.
Looking ahead, cooler temperatures are expected early next week behind that front, bringing a more typical late-March feel back to the region.
