Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – A soaking rain event will move in by Sunday afternoon, with up to 1 inch of rainfall expected by Sunday night, raising the risk for quick rises on creeks and poor drainage flooding.
According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, dry and warm conditions Saturday will give way to widespread rain beginning after midday Sunday, continuing through the overnight hours. Rainfall totals between 0.75 and 1.07 inches are likely across central and eastern Pennsylvania, including Harrisburg, State College, and Philadelphia.
Roadways such as I-76, I-81, and I-83 could see reduced visibility and ponding water during the Sunday evening drive, especially between 4 p.m. and midnight when rainfall rates peak. Smaller streams and urban areas face the greatest chance of localized runoff issues.
Farther north into Williamsport and toward the New York border, colder air arriving by early Monday may mix rain with wet snow before precipitation ends, though no significant accumulation is expected.
Residents should clear storm drains and avoid flooded roadways Sunday night. Additional advisories may be issued as rainfall totals become more certain, with cooler air settling in by Monday morning.
