Philadelphia, Pa. – Residents across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey can expect scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through Sunday, with the heaviest activity likely in the afternoon and evening hours. While rainfall amounts will remain light—generally less than a quarter inch—brief downpours could slow traffic and cause ponding on low-lying roads.

According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, rainfall through Monday morning will average between 0.10 and 0.25 inches across much of the region. Minor changes in river and creek levels are possible into early next week, but no significant flooding is expected.

In Philadelphia, Baltimore, Wilmington, and Trenton, the showers will be more nuisance than hazard, but isolated lightning strikes could cause brief delays for outdoor events and air travel. Motorists are advised to keep headlights on during heavy rain and watch for slick spots on bridges and ramps.

Looking ahead, Tropical Storm Erin in the Atlantic is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane this weekend. While current models keep Erin east of the U.S. by midweek, forecasters will continue to monitor its track.
