Mount Holly, NJ – A weak low-pressure system is moving across the Mid-Atlantic tonight, bringing light but widespread rainfall to New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and northern Maryland. Forecasters say the rain will continue into early Wednesday morning, with some areas picking up as much as an inch.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, temperatures tonight will fall into the mid-30s to lower-40s across the region. While most areas will see only cold rain, the higher terrain — including the Poconos, the Lehigh Valley, and parts of northern New Jersey north of Interstate 78 — may experience periods of wet snow after midnight. Any snow accumulations are expected to remain under an inch.

Forecasters say rainfall totals across the region will generally range from 0.25 to 0.75 inches, with isolated locations possibly reaching 1 inch. The heaviest rainfall is expected south of Philadelphia and into portions of southern New Jersey, Delaware, and northeastern Maryland.

The weather service described the system as “beneficial rain,” noting that it will move through steadily but without severe impacts. Commuters on Wednesday morning may encounter damp roads and reduced visibility in some spots, but no widespread flooding issues are expected.

In western New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, temperatures will hover near the freezing mark by early morning, but forecasters say major travel concerns are unlikely because road surfaces remain warm. Residents in higher elevation zones, however, may notice a brief mix of rain and wet snow before sunrise.

More updates are expected Wednesday as the system exits the coast and temperatures begin to moderate later in the week.
