Philadelphia, PA – A quiet but chilly day is underway across the Delaware Valley as weak high pressure keeps conditions mostly dry before a cold front sweeps through the region tonight. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly, Sunday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with high temperatures near 41°F in Philadelphia and mid-40s along the Jersey Shore.
Early morning freezing fog developed across parts of the Delmarva Peninsula and southern New Jersey but is expected to dissipate by mid-morning. The rest of the day will stay partly to mostly cloudy and seasonably cool.
The NWS reports that a cold front will move across the area tonight, ushering in colder air and gusty northwest winds. Temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight, with wind chills in the teens by early Monday morning. A few light snow flurries could develop in the higher elevations of the Poconos.
Behind the front, Monday will remain cold and breezy before a gradual midweek warm-up.
Motorists traveling early Monday should be alert for slick spots, especially where freezing fog formed overnight.
