Harrisburg, Pa. – Scattered showers will linger across Pennsylvania and much of the Mid-Atlantic this weekend, with steadier rain expected by Sunday night as a cold front pushes through the region. Drivers could face slick roads on major highways from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg, while higher rainfall totals are likely across upstate New York.

According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, rainfall through Monday could range from a quarter-inch to as much as an inch, with New York seeing the heaviest amounts. Showers are most likely to develop along and west of the Appalachians this afternoon and evening, before spreading more widely late Sunday into Monday.

The added rainfall will cause rivers across Pennsylvania and surrounding states to remain steady through the weekend, though slight rises are possible early next week. Communities along the Susquehanna and Delaware Rivers should monitor updates closely, particularly where localized flooding could develop.

Travelers are advised to allow extra time on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-81, where wet pavement may slow traffic. Residents are urged to clear storm drains and keep devices charged in case of weather-related outages.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Tuesday, though additional advisories remain possible if rainfall intensifies.
