Washington, DC – A mild and mostly dry week is underway across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region, with a brief warm-up Tuesday before a cold front brings showers and cooler temperatures, according to the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

Forecasters say highs today will reach the low to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies, with breezy northwest winds. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, with highs climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s ahead of the approaching front.

A 50% chance of rain arrives Tuesday night as the front sweeps through the region. Behind it, temperatures will fall into the 50s by Wednesday, with lows dipping into the upper 30s and 40s across the suburbs and mountains.

Conditions will remain partly cloudy and seasonably cool Thursday and Friday, offering a crisp and comfortable end to the week.

The weather service expects mostly dry conditions beyond midweek, though patchy frost could develop in colder mountain valleys early Thursday morning.
