Mount Holly, NJ – Temperatures across the Mid-Atlantic will feel closer to seasonal averages today, but strong northwest winds will be the main weather concern, making conditions feel colder and creating potential travel and outdoor impacts.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, temperatures today will be about five degrees warmer than Saturday, with highs ranging from the mid-30s in the Poconos to the upper 40s along the New Jersey and Delaware coasts. Despite the sunshine, northwest winds will increase late this morning, with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph through the afternoon.
High temperatures are expected to reach around 44 degrees in Philadelphia and Trenton, 42 in Reading and Allentown, 47 in Atlantic City and Cape May, and near 49 degrees along the Delaware beaches. Inland northern areas, including parts of the Poconos, will remain colder, with highs closer to the mid-30s.
The gusty winds may cause difficult driving conditions, especially on north–south roadways, bridges, and elevated routes, including Interstates 95, 295, and 76, as well as the New Jersey Turnpike. Loose outdoor objects could also be blown around.
Conditions will turn colder tonight as winds gradually ease. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the low to mid-20s across inland areas, with upper 20s near the coast, marking a noticeable chill by Monday morning.
Residents across Philadelphia, South Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware are encouraged to dress for wind chill conditions and remain cautious during afternoon travel.
