Baltimore, MD – Steady rain continues across Virginia, Maryland, and much of the Mid-Atlantic today, with conditions expected to dry out by Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center.
The latest 24-hour forecast shows rainfall totals ranging from less than 0.10 inches in western areas to as much as 1.5 inches along coastal regions, particularly near the New Jersey shoreline. The system has brought persistent damp conditions through Monday, though meteorologists say a stretch of dry, calmer weather is expected Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the NWS, rises have been observed on several rivers across New Jersey and parts of Maryland, but significant flooding is not anticipated at this time. Coastal flooding, however, is still being reported in low-lying areas, especially along the Delaware and Maryland coasts.
Drivers are urged to use caution as wet roads and ponding may cause slowdowns through the afternoon commute. Communities near tidal waterways should remain alert for any local flood advisories.
Dry air is expected to move in overnight, bringing clearer conditions by Tuesday morning and more seasonable autumn weather for midweek.
