Baltimore, Maryland – Drivers and outdoor planners across the Mid-Atlantic should expect a damp stretch of weather, with scattered showers this weekend followed by a more sustained round of rainfall beginning Tuesday night. Conditions will remain cooler than normal, though drier than recent days.
According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, rain will begin building back into the region late Tuesday and persist into Wednesday. The heaviest precipitation is forecast over Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, with totals near 1 inch in Richmond and parts of central Virginia, and nearly half an inch in the DC metro and Hagerstown areas.
Rivers, especially in western Maryland and northern West Virginia, could remain elevated or rise slightly due to recent rainfall, though levels may recede briefly before the next system arrives. Urban flooding and waterlogged fields may be a concern in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Travelers should monitor conditions closely, especially along I-81 and I-95 corridors, where visibility and ponding on roadways could increase. Residents are urged to secure outdoor plans and prepare for possible minor disruptions early next week.
Additional advisories may be issued as rainfall amounts and storm timing become more certain. Updates are expected through the weekend.
