Philadelphia, Pa. – Strong wind gusts and a surge of colder air could quickly create hazardous travel conditions across the Mid-Atlantic, with brief snow showers possible in some areas heading into early April.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the 8-to-14 day outlook from Friday, March 27 through Thursday, April 2 shows below-normal temperatures across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and parts of Maryland and northern Virginia, paired with an increased likelihood of strong wind events.

Across the I-95 corridor, including Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Baltimore, wind gusts could reach 40 to 45 mph, creating difficult driving conditions on bridges, overpasses, and exposed roadways. High-profile vehicles may be especially vulnerable to sudden crosswinds.

Farther inland, including central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, colder air combined with increased moisture may allow for occasional snow showers or mixed precipitation, particularly during overnight and early morning hours. While widespread accumulation is not expected, brief visibility reductions and slick spots are possible.

In Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia, gusty winds and colder temperatures could impact daily commutes, especially along I-66, I-95, and the Capital Beltway.

Wind chills are expected to fall into the 20s and low 30s at times, increasing the risk for those outdoors. Residents should secure loose objects, prepare for isolated power outages, and use caution when traveling.

This pattern is expected to persist into early April, with additional advisories possible as conditions evolve.
