Beaver Kill, NY – Winter-like scenes returned to parts of the northern Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, as light rain and snow continued across regions from Pennsylvania into upstate New York.

According to the US National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, cloudy skies with pockets of rain and light snow are expected to linger throughout the day, particularly north of Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, residents farther south can expect sunnier and noticeably warmer conditions.

The forecast highlights a sharp divide in regional weather patterns: while the northern tier braces for lingering lake-enhanced snow showers and chilly air, the southern Mid-Atlantic is set to enjoy a brief warmup under clear skies.

Forecasters added that a general warming trend is expected across much of the Mid-Atlantic over the next several days, though snow belts near the Great Lakes—especially in New York—may continue to see light accumulation through the end of the week.

Drivers traveling northward from Maryland or Virginia into Pennsylvania are advised to watch for wet and possibly slushy roads in higher elevations.
