Harrisburg, Pa. – A system of low pressure tracking north of the region could bring light rain to parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic through Tuesday, but no river flooding is expected.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, the low will pass north today and tomorrow, increasing rain chances primarily in New York, closer to the system’s core. The heaviest rainfall is expected in central and northern New York, while areas from Pennsylvania to Maryland and Virginia may only see scattered showers.

Despite the rainfall, hydrologists confirm river levels across the Middle Atlantic region remain stable, and no flooding is anticipated at this time. The rain will likely stay light to moderate, minimizing the risk of significant runoff or rapid water rise.

Drivers should remain cautious during morning and evening commutes, especially in areas where roads may become slick. Residents closer to the New York border should monitor local advisories for updates if rain intensifies.

The weather system is expected to exit the region by late Tuesday. No flood warnings are in effect, but the National Weather Service will continue monitoring conditions for any sudden changes.
