Washington, District of Columbia – A stretch of unseasonably mild weather continues across the Mid-Atlantic today, offering springlike temperatures before rain returns to the region late Friday, potentially affecting evening travel across the DC metro.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, highs today will climb into the 50s and low 60s across much of Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District, with cooler air settling in tonight as high pressure builds overhead. Despite the chillier overnight conditions, above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through Saturday.

Thursday remains quiet with dry conditions and seasonably cool mornings, followed by another mild afternoon. Changes arrive Friday afternoon into Friday night as a warm front lifts north, spreading rain across the region. While widespread hazardous impacts are not expected, periods of steady rain could slow traffic along Interstate 95, the Capital Beltway, and major commuter routes during the Friday evening commute.

Cities including Baltimore, Washington, Alexandria, Arlington, and Silver Spring should plan for wet roads and reduced visibility Friday night. Temperatures remain mild enough that precipitation will fall as rain, with no wintry concerns at this time.

Rain tapers off later Friday night, with mild conditions continuing into Saturday. Additional updates may be issued as timing and rainfall coverage become clearer heading into the end of the week.
