Washington, DC – Commuters across the D.C. and Baltimore region are waking up to temperatures in the upper 20s and 30s, creating a cold start that could impact early travel and outdoor plans this morning.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, lighter winds and clear skies will allow temperatures to slowly recover through the day, with highs reaching the mid-40s to low 50s by the afternoon. Urban areas near the Chesapeake Bay will warm slightly faster, while mountain locations remain cooler in the 40s.
Road conditions remain dry, but the early chill could create patchy frost on elevated surfaces, especially in outlying suburbs and rural counties. Winds will stay light out of the north between 5 and 10 mph, limiting additional hazards.
Conditions improve tonight as clouds begin to increase, setting up a warmer trend. By Wednesday afternoon, highs will climb into the upper 50s and low 60s across much of Maryland, Virginia, and the District, marking a return to more typical spring temperatures.
Residents should dress in layers for the cold start and take advantage of the calmer, sunny conditions today. Additional updates are expected as temperatures continue to moderate through midweek.
