Philadelphia, PA – Scattered severe thunderstorms could sweep across southeast Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and the Delmarva Peninsula between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, bringing damaging winds and a brief tornado threat.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, an organized line of storms may develop during the morning commute and persist through early afternoon. The primary hazards include wind gusts up to 60 mph, possible hail, and an isolated tornado—particularly over the Delmarva region.

Philadelphia, Wilmington, Trenton, and Atlantic City are all under a Level 2 Slight Risk for severe weather. Residents in these areas should secure outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and prepare for sudden power outages. Travel may be impacted on I-95, Route 1, and the Atlantic City Expressway during storm periods.

This is the region’s most significant severe threat since early spring, with unstable air and warm temperatures creating ideal storm conditions.

Additional thunderstorms may redevelop Friday evening. Stay weather aware and monitor updates from the National Weather Service as watches or warnings may be issued with little notice.
