Baltimore, Md. – Sunshine and dry skies will dominate Maryland through Monday, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to move in by Tuesday night, potentially disrupting commutes and outdoor plans across the state.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, a high-pressure system is holding conditions calm through early week. Sunday and Monday will bring partly cloudy skies and highs in the 70s to low 80s. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the 40s and 50s. However, by Tuesday afternoon, a low-pressure system sweeping in from the Midwest will reach the mid-Atlantic, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the region.
The Baltimore and Washington D.C. metro areas could see the heaviest rainfall late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Temperatures are also expected to cool slightly, with daytime highs dropping into the upper 60s to low 70s and lingering cloud cover through midweek.
Drivers should stay alert for slick roads during the Tuesday evening commute. Residents are advised to check local alerts, charge devices, and prepare for potential power outages or travel delays.
Cooler air will follow the storm system, with temperatures remaining below seasonal averages through the end of the week. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve.
