Washington, D.C. – A Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. Friday across much of the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington, D.C., Maryland, Delaware, and southern New Jersey, as overnight temperatures fall near the freezing mark.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) offices in Baltimore/Washington and Mount Holly, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30°F are expected across the region, impacting counties including Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Cecil, and Charles (MD), as well as New Castle, Kent, and Sussex (DE), and Camden, Gloucester, and Cape May (NJ).

The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, sensitive vegetation, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring pets indoors, and let faucets drip slightly to prevent pipes from freezing.

Forecasters note this marks one of the first widespread freezes of the season, signaling the end of the growing season for many parts of the Mid-Atlantic. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 40s to mid-50s later Friday, but another round of cold is possible over the weekend.

Motorists are also advised to use caution during early-morning hours, as patchy frost could make some roadways slick.
