Philadelphia, PA – Stormy conditions are developing across the Mid-Atlantic this Saturday as rounds of low pressure bring showers and possible thunderstorms—some of them severe—especially from Philadelphia south into South Jersey and the Delmarva Peninsula.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, light rain will persist through the afternoon before heavier thunderstorms develop late Saturday afternoon and early evening. A Marginal Risk for severe storms stretches across South Jersey, Delaware, and parts of eastern Pennsylvania, with damaging wind gusts as the main concern. The Weather Prediction Center has also issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall in Delaware and parts of southern New Jersey, raising the threat of localized flash flooding.
Cities like Wilmington, Dover, and Vineland could see downpours capable of overwhelming poor drainage systems. Motorists on I-95, Route 40, and the Atlantic City Expressway should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, avoid flooded roadways, and monitor alerts throughout the day. Rain chances decrease overnight but another disturbance may bring renewed rainfall early Sunday.
⚠️ Weather alerts remain in effect through Saturday night, with additional advisories possible by Sunday morning.
