Marquette, MI – Unseasonably warm conditions will continue across Upper Michigan through Tuesday, with temperatures reaching the 70s. Breezy conditions will accompany the warmth, but a strong cold front is set to arrive Tuesday night, bringing significant changes.

According to the National Weather Service, the front will introduce lake-effect rain showers on Wednesday under gusty northwest winds. Temperatures will plummet, with highs expected to be in the 40s. The sharp drop in temperatures marks a swift transition from the mild autumn conditions seen earlier in the week.

Wednesday’s lows will dip to 34 to 46 degrees, with the coolest areas west of Marquette. Thursday will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs ranging from 54 to 60 degrees.

Officials are urging residents to continue obeying burn restrictions as warm and dry conditions persist through Tuesday. With ongoing drought conditions across the region, the risk of fire remains high until cooler, wetter weather settles in later this week.

Rain showers will develop Tuesday evening, starting west and moving east, setting the stage for colder temperatures.
