Gaylord, MI – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin repairs on the northbound US-131 bridge over M-115, just south of Cadillac, on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The $3.6 million project aims to replace the bridge deck and repair steel, pins, and hangers. Work will also include structural steel cleaning and coating, guardrail and substructure repairs, and approach work. The repairs to the southbound US-131 bridge were completed this spring.

According to MDOT, traffic will be detoured around the bridge using the northbound US-131 on and off ramps. A temporary traffic signal at M-115 will control the detours. Nighttime closures on M-115 will occur during concrete pouring and demolition work. Westbound M-115 traffic will detour north on US-131 to Exit 177, while eastbound traffic will detour south to Exit 168.

MDOT expects the project to support 51 jobs directly and indirectly. The construction is projected to end on Friday, Nov. 15, depending on the weather. The repairs are crucial to maintaining the structural integrity of the bridge, ensuring long-term safety for travelers.
