Marquette, MI – Residents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula should prepare for gusty winds and rain overnight through Thursday, with dry, sunny conditions expected by the weekend. The U.S. National Weather Service in Marquette issued an advisory warning of wind gusts up to 40 mph across the region, particularly in the higher terrains of western UP.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will move into Marquette and surrounding areas late tonight, persisting through Thursday morning. The central and eastern UP can expect about a quarter to half an inch of rainfall, with strong southerly winds reaching 30-40 mph. Drivers are advised to exercise caution on roads, as visibility may be reduced in rainy and windy conditions.

On Thursday, high temperatures will range between 43-48 degrees, with the heaviest rain expected before noon. While showers are likely, they will taper off by the afternoon, and gusts are forecast to lessen, giving way to mostly cloudy skies by Thursday night.

The weekend outlook is more favorable. Friday will bring clear, calm conditions with highs around 50 degrees, a welcome break from the wet and windy weather. Saturday is also expected to be partly sunny, with temperatures reaching up to 51 degrees, ideal for outdoor activities. Another chance of showers may arise late Saturday night into Sunday, though impacts are expected to be minimal.

With fluctuating conditions, residents are encouraged to stay informed through local updates and drive cautiously during rain and wind.
