Marquette, MI – A snowy weekend is ahead for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as February kicks off with persistent winter conditions. Residents should prepare for accumulating snow, gusty winds, and frigid temperatures through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, snow showers will intensify Saturday afternoon and continue into Saturday night, with up to two inches of accumulation possible. Winds will pick up to 25 mph, creating blowing snow and reduced visibility. Daytime highs will struggle to reach the mid-20s, with nighttime lows dipping near 14°F.
Sunday brings more snow, mainly in the morning, with an additional inch of accumulation expected. Winds will remain brisk at 10-15 mph. By Monday, the region will see a brief break in snowfall, but cloudy skies will persist, with daytime temperatures reaching 22°F before dropping to 10°F overnight.
Looking ahead, Tuesday introduces another round of light snow, with temperatures staying below freezing. Travelers should monitor road conditions, especially on US-41 and M-28, where visibility may be reduced.
