Marquette, MI – Residents of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are in for an unseasonably warm and muggy weekend as high pressure and elevated dew points move into the area. Temperatures are expected to soar into the lower 90s in many parts, with cooler conditions near Lake Michigan and the Bay of Green Bay.

According to the US National Weather Service in Marquette, southerly to southwesterly winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, will accompany the heat, making it feel even hotter. The forecast for today calls for temperatures ranging from 82°F to 93°F, with similar conditions persisting through Sunday.

By Monday, there is a significant chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly over the western half of the Upper Peninsula. Highs are predicted to drop into the 80s as the weather system moves in, offering some relief from the weekend’s heat.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles, and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Additionally, it is important to bring pets indoors or provide them with plenty of water and shade.

Looking ahead, the temperatures will gradually decrease throughout the week, with highs expected to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Tuesday should see partly cloudy skies with a high of 78°F. By midweek, the region can expect sunny skies with a high of 83°F on Wednesday. Rain may return on Thursday with a 30% chance of showers and a high of 80°F, followed by a clear and pleasant Friday with a high of 76°F.
