Marquette, MI – Residents of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula should brace for intense weather conditions today, Veterans Day, as a Wind Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. The region will experience sustained winds between 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 55 mph, particularly near Lake Superior. This advisory affects Alger, Luce, and Marquette counties, and locals are urged to secure outdoor items and take precautions while driving, especially on high-profile routes such as M-28.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, the wind-driven weather will be accompanied by periods of rain and lake-enhanced snow showers throughout the day. While snow accumulations will be minimal, visibility could be reduced, and power outages are possible due to tree limbs being blown down.

The temperature is forecast to peak at 45°F, dropping to 37°F tonight. Winds will start to diminish overnight, allowing skies to partially clear by Tuesday morning. Tuesday will bring a shift, with sunny skies and a calmer high of 45°F.

Residents should remain vigilant for hazardous travel conditions today and take extra caution when navigating windy and potentially slick roads. The five-day outlook shows a mix of sunny and partly cloudy conditions through midweek, with possible rain showers Wednesday evening. Thursday and Friday will see temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to the low 50s.
