Detroit, MI – Residents in the Great Lakes area are experiencing unseasonably warm and dry weather, raising concerns about fire safety through Tuesday. High pressure over the region has kept skies clear and temperatures high, with little relief in sight. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s to 80 degrees on Monday.

The National Weather Service warns that fire danger is elevated due to these dry conditions, urging residents to exercise caution when planning outdoor activities. With minimal rainfall expected, dry foliage could ignite easily, especially in wooded areas near major routes like I-94 and I-75.

According to the NWS, Sunday’s high will hover near 73 degrees, with lows dropping into the mid-50s by night. Monday will bring even warmer conditions, with highs near 80 degrees, and Tuesday will continue the trend with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s. Winds will stay mild, but any increase could spread fires more quickly, particularly in rural or forested areas.

Cooler weather will return by midweek. Wednesday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 70s, followed by a chance of showers late in the afternoon. The temperature will fall to around 41 degrees by Wednesday night, with a slight chance of rain lingering into Thursday morning.

The fire risk should ease by Thursday, as temperatures dip further, reaching only 56 degrees for the day, with lows in the upper 30s at night. Until then, Detroit residents should remain vigilant, staying informed about local burn bans and fire safety measures.
