Detroit, MI – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Southeast Michigan from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday, with icy conditions expected to impact the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit/Pontiac, a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will move into the region late Wednesday night. Up to an inch of snow and sleet accumulation is expected, along with ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch. Areas near the Ohio border may see slightly higher ice totals.

Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties, including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Adrian, and Monroe, are under the advisory. The wintry mix is expected to start as light snow between 10 p.m. and midnight before transitioning to sleet and freezing rain overnight.

Roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous, creating dangerous driving conditions. Commuters should expect delays and are advised to slow down and use caution.

Motorists can check Michigan road conditions on the MDOT Drive Map. Pedestrians should also be cautious, as sidewalks and driveways may become icy and increase the risk of slips and falls.
